Vaughn faced many challenges in his life, including lung disease, kidney disease, an undiagnosed genetic condition, multiple tumors in his kidneys, many surgeries, multiple rounds of chemo therapy, and a brain tumor. Because of these challenges Vaughn was never able to walk on his own or talk. Despite these challenges he never complained or felt sorry for himself. He was determined to never let anything get in his way. He learned to sign a few words, he knew what hugs & kisses were, he would try and walk, and he never ever gave up.
